Holy Balderdash!

I cannot believe I haven't posted since May?? It really doesn't feel that long ago...

I am failing my Bucket List! I will rectify this situation shortly.

Favorite Impulse Buy 5/24

Hello Kitty Poky!

New addition to the list!

You know what should've been on my original list?? Going to a concert! I've never been to a big "down 'n dirty" concert/festival. So.... let's pretend it Was on my list. And now I have accomplished it. Headed into RFK on Saturday for the DC 101 Chili Cookoff, got to see Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots, followed that up with food and an excellent DJ at Hard Times in Clarendon. Finished off the day with an equally excellent reggae DJ in Fairfax. Talk about an incredible day of music... Definitely got myself sick - apparently walking around in the rain all day and sharing drinks with a dear friend who failed to mention he was sick will do that to you. But, final verdict - totally worth it.

In other news, I plan on starting to photograph one thing everyday, just a snapshot of my favorite thing of the day. This doesn't really have to do with this list, but I'll be posting them here.

Another addition to the list...

It's time to find a new place to live! I'm going to take this opportunity to A) get rid of all the crap I don't need, B) actually put all of my kitchen gadgets in easily accessible locations to encourage frequent use, C) spend more quality time with myself. Advice? Where should I go??

In other news...

Believe it or not, "lose weight" and "get healthy" were not on my original list. But just so you know, I am indeed working on both. Last night, I attended my first Spin Class. Talk about TORTURE. I have an incredible amount of new-found respect for Spin Class attendees. I almost fell down when I dismounted. Of course, I also actually fell down on the walk into the gym. So maybe that doesn't mean much...

59. IF there is another natural disaster of any kind (domestic), go volunteer. Heaven forbid.

So I indicated domestic... BUT, should I go to Haiti? I speak French... that's about the only reason they might even consider taking me on as a volunteer. But maybe?

P.S. Volunteers who speak Creole are needed to translate text messages to help find individuals still trapped or missing.  http://www.samasource.org/haiti/startnow.php

#35, #44, #87.... Baby steps.

I haven't been giving myself enough credit! I just looked back on these and realized that I am indeed making some progress. In addition to the items already specifically mentioned:

35. Learn about aromatherapy and other natural remedies.
Tomorrow evening I am taking the "herb of the month" class at a new alternative store in Fairfax called "Sticks and Stones". January is mint month. Woot!

44. Join the medical reserve corps.
I did attend the orientation session for the Fairfax County Medical Reserve Corps. I need to complete my online training courses and then I can go active. {Note to self: MUST complete said training ASAP.}

87. Stay away from food service for 1 year +.
I have officially cut the strings. I am now only working ONE job (gasp). Official one year mark will be 12/20/2010. So... let's say I am forbidden from food service until January 2011. Whoa. I guess that answers my question as to when I should open my own coffee shop?
